City of Long Beach Trash Project Honored

In the 12th Annual Building Excellence, Shaping Tomorrow award luncheon Dec. 7, the Long Beach Trash TMDL Project will be recognized by the American Public Works Association, Southern California Chapter.
The Trash Total Maximum Daily Load Project is one of 33 outstanding public works projects that will be recognized by Chapter President Dino D’Emilia, of AndersonPenna, Inc.
The ceremony is scheduled for 11 a.m. at The Center at Sycamore Plaza, Lakewood Civic Center, 5000 Clark Avenue, Lakewood.
The event will include a winner’s gallery, vendor viewing, award presentation and photo opportunities.
“The Long Beach Trash TMDL Project takes another step towards cleanup of the Los Angeles River,” D’Emilia said in a press release.
Trash vortex separation systems and trash netting capture objects greater than 5mm, resulting in a significant reduction in trash entering the river, he said.
“End result is a cleaner river, with fewer pollutants,” D’Emilia said.
